PROJECT NAME - TRAINING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM ON INTRANET (MARCH ’98 TO AUGUST ’98)

CLIENT : HCL Perot Systems, Bangalore

BRIEF DESCRPTION

The "Training Management System" (TMS) is a computer based management information system. The TMS extracts data and provides concise, meaningful summary reports that help the Training Manager to analyze better and take better decisions. It is basically aimed at relieving the TM of his/her day to day bookkeeping work, so that he/she can concentrate on improving the course materials and on tracking effectiveness of training conducted. The online web registration system enables associates of HPS to view and register for the required training. The system is also capable of sending emails to associate using the SMTP protocol.

ROLE

I was completely involved during all the stages of software development cycle of the project right from the requirements and analysis to the final implementation of the project. The job included system study, preparation of Data Flow Diagrams, Entity Relationship Diagrams, Class Diagrams, Table Structures, Screen Designing using Visual Basic 5.0, module identifications and preparation of technical write up on the proposed system.

Class Projects:

These projects were done as part of the course of fifth semester MCA.

Project Name: Library Management System.

Platform : UNIX.

RDBMS : Oracle 7.0, Forms 3.0

The software was written to automate many of the commonly performed library transactions such as lending books, levying fines for late returns of books, etc. Reports of the transactions were produced for the user.

Project Name: Inventory Control system

Platform : UNIX.

RDBMS : Oracle 7.0, Forms 3.0

This package was written to automate an Inventory control system. It performs some of the regular inventory keeping tasks. It maintains data about the stock buffer, re-order point and re-order quantity. It informs the user when the stock on hand falls below the re-order point.

Project Name: Payroll system

Platform : UNIX.

RDBMS : Oracle 7.0, Forms 3.0

The package maintained a database of the employee records (each record consisting of employee name, number and designation) along with the details of each employee’s salary such as the basic pay and deductions. The program generated a detailed pay-slip for each employee.

Project Name: Travel and Tourist Information Management System

This project was done as part of the course of fourth semester MCA.

Platform :MSDOS

Software :dBASE III PLUS

This package was developed to maintain the details of all the travel plans and tourist details for a tours and travels company.

 

Others:

I have also done a project in PASCAL named "Club Database Management System" as part of the XIIth standard course in 1992.

I have also done a project "Payroll System" in BASIC as part of the Xth standard course in 1990.
